Saint Luke the Evangelist

Saint Luke was an apostle of Saint Paul and followed Paul until his martyrdom. Luke was one of the four evangelists, the authors of the gospels.

Luke was a Greek physician who lived in Antioch, Turkey (Ancient Syria). Luke was also an artist (painter) and historian.

Saint Luke the Evangelist died in Boeotia, Greece at 84 years of age. His tomb was in Thebes until his relics were moved to Constantinople in 357 AD.

Luke is the patron saint of artists, physicians, bachelors, surgeons, students and butchers.
